Survey: lack of things to do and adult company hit toddler families during the winter months - Leo's launches free Toddler Day
More than half of parents would like more things to do with their children during the winter months. They also want free activities and the company of other parents, according to a recent survey. Leo's is responding by launching a free Toddler Day at all its indoor play parks. A total of 2,839 parents with children responded to the survey.
Indoor playground chain Leo's is bringing relief to the winter shortage of things to do by launching a free Toddler Day. Every Wednesday from 10am to 2pm, children under 2 and their parents can play free of charge in all 17 Leo's play parks across Finland. Leo's Toddler Days continue until the end of June. The only exception to this is during the skiing holiday weeks 8-10.
"Toddlers develop a curiosity to move and motor skills are best developed through movement and play. Leo's parks are designed to support movement for children of all ages. With free Wednesdays for toddler families, we hope to inspire more and more to get moving from an early age," says Leo's Marketing Director Gabriel Bergqvist.
More free things to do in the nursery
According to a survey by Leo's*, the most preferred places to play with toddlers are outdoors (85%) and indoors (83%). The majority of respondents (68%) say they would like to have more options for their toddler especially during the winter months. In particular, they would like more free options (68%), children's events (57%) and indoor play areas (56%).
When asked about the challenges of toddlerhood, one in three parents surveyed said they would like or miss more adult company. Other top themes included tiredness, lack of free things to do and boredom. In addition, one in five parents wished for more places to meet other parents.
The "Let's talk" stickers also help you meet other parents
"As our survey also highlighted the need for peer support and adult socialising, we wanted to take into account the needs of parents at Toddler Days. At the checkout, there are "Let's talk" stickers, which we hope will help parents who need to talk to each other to find each other," says Bergqvist.
Bergqvist hopes that, ideally, in addition to the joy of play and movement, the Toddler Day will become a place where parents can share ideas about everyday life and find peer support.
*The survey was conducted using the Typeform survey tool and was answered by 2839 adults with children.
Leo's:
Leo's is the most popular indoor playground chain in the Nordic countries, with 63 parks in total (27 in Sweden, 9 in Norway, 6 in Denmark, 17 in Finland and 3 in Germany). When Leo's was launched in 2006, the founders wanted to create a meeting place for families focused on play and exercise. Now more than ever, with WHO reports showing that children are not moving enough these days. The company's success is built on a strong concept of play and movement, with safety, cleanliness and service as a priority. Leo's Group includes the Nordic indoor playground chain Leo's and the former Finnish indoor playground chain HopLop, which were merged and rebranded as the Leo's brand in late 2024.
