The HopLop adventure park chain has been selected as one of the service providers in the Hobby Finland model, which means that HopLop Helsinki Pasila and HopLop Helsinki Outlet, HopLop Vantaa Vantaanportti, HopLop Lohja and HopLop Pirkkala will this school year be among the providers of free after-school activities. HopLop's activities aim to encourage children to move through fun and play, increase social skills and reduce inequalities in leisure activities.
The Finnish model of hobbies is a model for cooperation between schools and hobby providers created by the Ministry of Education and Culture, which will be expanded in the academic year 2023-2024.The aim of the Finnish model is to enable every child and young person to enjoy a pleasant and free hobby during the school day. The Finnish model is paid for by the municipalities.
HoLop's recreational activities are physical activity classes led by HopLop's trained instructors. The activities include a variety of changing themes, such as trampoline school, ninja school and circus school. Children are also guided through activities such as memory games, activity-based treasure hunts and yard games.
"The classes have been very popular. The groups filled up quickly and we have added new groups. HopLop's physical activity classes have been very well received by the children.Thefeedback from the children has been, for example, that we should organise this club every day and that it would last for many hours," says HopLop Lohja Adventure Park Manager Kirsi Tuominen.
HopLop's recreational activities have been running since the beginning of September in several locations around Finland, in addition to the other activities of the adventure park. HopLop in Vantaaport will start in October. HopLop's new free leisure activities have been well received.
"We immediately noticed that there is a huge demand for HopLop's hobby classes. The children have enjoyed the varied games and have already found new friends at the club, which is important to us," says Jonna Porko, Adventure Park Manager at HopLop Helsinki Outlet.
HopLop aims to increase children's enjoyment of movement and develop social skills
Active lessons involve playing games and games in different groups. The aim of HopLop's activities is to get children moving as much as possible and to give them a sense of achievement by solving a variety of reasoning and tick-box tasks. HopLop Adventure Park's various activity equipment encourages movement through fun and play.
"We've studied that at HopLop, a child typically takes more than 5,000 steps in one visit to the park. When movement is done through play and group activities, the steps come naturally," says Kaisa Niemi , HopLop's Sales and Customer Service Manager.
Another important objective for Hoplop's leisure activities is the development of social skills. Games and play take into account the fact that children do not necessarily know each other, but may come from many different schools and classes. Through HopLop's recreational activities, children can make new friends.
HopLop's involvement in the Finnish model of recreation offers children new opportunities for physical activity in their everyday lives and a framework that not all children can take for granted.
"It is a well-researched fact that children have different opportunities for exercise and physical activity. HopLop is honoured to be involved in providing free activities and reducing inequalities in many different communities. The joy of movement is a fundamental right for children and young people," said Kalle Peltola, CEO of HopLop.
